DSEAR Services

  • Hazardous Area Classification (HAC) can be a complex process. We specialise in providing a HAC document and drawings which are easy to understand, allowing you to effectively control ignition sources where explosive atmospheres could be present.

We have vast experience in classifying both existing and design stage processes. HAC is a vital input into the design process for both new builds and modifications - having an inaccurate HAC can lead to large project delays and overspend due to ATEX equipment not being correctly specified.

The methodology and assumptions used to determine the zone classification and extent are clearly shown, allowing you to clearly see how process changes may influence the hazardous zones.

Our experience and knowledge in applying the latest standards and industry guidance ensures that hazardous areas will only be classified where they are required - no more blanket zoning! This approach will save both capital and operational costs associated with installing and maintaining ATEX equipment that may have been required due to over-conservative hazardous zones being classified.

  • Our DSEAR risk assessments are designed to allow you to identify the highest risk areas of your process and efficiently allocate resources to mitigate these risks. Where an unacceptable risk is identified, pragmatic actions will be provided which would reduce the risk towards As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).

Each action will be given a priority ranking relating to the risk and the hierarchy of control measures prescribed in Regulation 6 of DSEAR which will be collated in a live document that can be used to track the progress of each action and form the basis of your DSEAR compliance plan.

Our risk assessments are conducted in line with the requirements of Regulation 5 of DSEAR.

  • Before a workplace containing hazardous areas is used for the first time, its overall explosion safety must be verified by someone who is competent in the field of explosion protection as a result of their experience and/or professional training.

Our practical DSEAR experience makes us well placed to assist you in making sure your workplace is safe to operate, providing a route to a safe and compliant start-up of your facility if any issues are found.

  • We understand the importance of accurate and thorough DSEAR assessments in ensuring workplace safety and compliance. We offer a comprehensive Peer Review service which will identify any gaps in your documentation against the requirements of DSEAR and validate that the HAC and risk assessment methodologies chosen are appropriate for your processes.

Our team of highly skilled and experienced experts provides an independent and objective evaluation of your DSEAR assessments. We will work with you, engaging in open communication to address any questions, clarify information, and provide clear recommendations for improvement.
