DSEAR / ATEX

Conducted the DSEAR hazardous area classification and risk assessments for all 10+ existing factories and also various design-stage expansion projects, with combustible dust as the main hazard. The key processes included milling, mixing, extrusion, cooking and general bulk solids handling equipment.

Conducted the DSEAR hazardous area classification and risk assessments for the flagship soups, sauces and canning facility and also various design-stage expansion projects, with combustible dust as the main hazard. The key processes included classifiers, mixing, cooking and general bulk solids handling equipment.

Conducted the DSEAR hazardous area classification and risk assessments for all 10 factories across the UK, with combustible dust as the main hazard. The key processes included milling, spray drying, agglomeration, mixing and general bulk solids handling equipment.

Conducted ATEX hazardous area classification and risk assessments in line with a global standard for large animal feed (fish and livestock) manufacturing facilities in Spain, Turkey and Japan, with combustible dust as the main hazard. The key processes included milling, mixing, pelletisers, coolers and general bulk solids handling equipment.

Conducted the DSEAR hazardous area classification and risk assessments for the flagship yoghurt facility, with combustible dust and ammonia as the main hazards. The key processes included refrigeration, mixing, and general bulk solids handling equipment.

Developed and delivered the 2-day Comprehensive Explosion Science Course on behalf of the IChemE at their offices based in Rugby.

Developed and delivered a 10 Credit module for the 5th Year Masters Chemical Engineer course at a leading UK university for three years. This included five days of lecturing, setting a written exam and subsequent coursework delivery and marking.

Developed and delivered a one day DSEAR course targeted at project managers, engineering managers and HSE managers, and a shorter DSEAR awareness course targeting operators and shop floor staff. These training courses have been delivered throughout the UK, either in-person or remotely, to hundreds of participants.
